What is Materials Technology?

Wood is one of civilisation's earliest and most basic materials - it is also one of the world's most valuable renewable resources. The CSIRO claim that if a product with these features were discovered today - produced by solar energy, renewable, recyclable and biodegradable - it would be acclaimed as a wonder material.
