SITUATION
As part of a collaborative marketing exercise involving
Design technology, Life Technology and Information Technology
you have been invited to a lunch time dinner party. You are
required to form groups of four and then meet with a designated
group from a Life Technology class. They will be designing a
menu for a restaurant setting and preparing a meal for you to
eat. As part of your marketing requirement, you will be designing
and making a dinning table wrought iron centeriece to complement
the table setting. In Information Technology your teacher will
be teaching you the skills to market your wrought iron artifact.
DESIGN
BRIEF
You are to design and make a suitable wrought iron dinning table centeriece.
· Materials to be used: 13 x 3mm flat black mild steel or 15 x 3mm flat
black mild steel.
· The centerpiece can incorporate other materials such as small copper dishes, glass bowls, ceramic dishes, etc.
· The construction can be riveted or welded together.
There will be prizes for the best three centerpieces.
TASK
ONE:
Research and investigate different shapes and structures. Your
teacher will advise you and show you different joining methods.
Look for articles in books, in shops or at home. Write down
four possible centerpieces in the space provided in your booklet.

Meet with other members of your group and brainstorm ideas about
an appropriate table centerpiece.
· Draw two or three concept sketches of possible ideas in your
design booklet (You can use other support materials if you wish)
